Whether you're a student of design or history, a fashion professional or are simply interested in costume, textiles, accessories and decorative arts, there's lots going on at the West of England Costume Society to entertain and inspire you.

Every year, we hold two study days including talks from leading speakers on particular themes and we also meet twice a year for talks, usually in Bath or Bristol, at our Annual General Meeting and Christmas Social. In addition, we run visits to various places and exhibitions of related interest with, where possible, guided tours and behind-scenes-access.

Formed in 1973, WECS is an inspiring group of like-minded enthusiasts. Our members come from all walks of life and joined for many different reasons. Yet together, we share the same passions: to study costume, with allied decorative arts and their history, and to help preserve important and valuable items of dress from the past and present.

The society is run by a committee drawn from the membership who organise the events.
